One of the best things about our little town. Historic immaculately kept steam trains are immensely old-fashioned and therefore compelling and very unique to Quorn's time and place in history. Learn how this region once functioned as a major South Australian trading centre and how trains powered by coal operated steam trains opened up the inland regions to the rest of the world, by transporting wool, grain, coal and people from the region onto ships and around the world, during the first global Industrial Revolution. Bookings online each year, they sell out fast. Must do, goes to Port Augusta return, or do a lunch ride to Woolshed Flat.

A Flinders Ranges tradition since 1974 - you can take a full-day or half-day trip aboard a restored steam or heritage diesel train on the original Ghan route between Port Augusta and Quorn. All trains use historic steam or diesel locomotives and immaculately restored timber carriages up to 100 years old. The Pichi Richi Railway is a Flinders Ranges tradition, proudly restored and run by volunteers since 1974. Open selected dates from March to November each year
