Big 5 Game Reserve within which our accommodation is situated. Guided game drives are offered from several lodges, but self-drive route permits can be acquired for either one, two or three day self-drives to enjoy a full day of game driving, with lots of restaurant options to stop off at along the way, as well as a few picnic spots

The Reserve was officially opened in 2011, with four of the Big 5 having been introduced. In 2018 a herd of black rhino was released into the reserve, making it a genuine Big 5 Reserve. This conservation project started through an initiative between the Gauteng Provincial Government and 170 enthusiastic landowners. Together, they developed the concept that eco-tourism could become a source for the upliftment of rural communities through sustainable employment. Dinokeng Game Reserve has the potential to become a model for future conservation where people and wild animals live in harmony and is now an example of a successful transformation. 48km from Menlyn Maine, mostly on the N1 highway.
