An interesting and surreal place. Originally intended to be a resort in the 1950s that never materialized.
An iconic sea that once was a place for many tourists and now is a dead sea. Must see.
Salton Sea is 226 ft below sea level. Once a thriving resort town is now abandoned due to the cut off of the Colorado River. Abandoned buildings, trailers, furniture and homes makes for a very unique experience. Don't forget to visit the Banana Museum.
It is an interesting place to drive around. If you have time stop in at the bar inside the mobile home park. I know but you'll be glad you did. Its on the north side of the Salton Sea halfway to Slab City.
