Off the Beaten Path - Walk north from the Dupont Circle fountain towards the Kalorama neighborhood. For a much prettier view of historic homes and embassies, avoid Connecticut Ave and instead take 22nd St NW, which will lead you to the "Spanish Steps" of DC.
While wandering through Kalorama, it's always a special treat to find the secluded Spanish Steps. They were inspired by the marvel of the same name in Rome. The stairs are ensconced by magnolia trees and lead to a fountain with a lion’s head. Pack a picnic, or just stop to rest.
One of the hidden gems of Dupont Circle. Savvy wooers bring their dates there, writers bring their notebooks and picnickers bring their lunches.
“Don't let the name deter you, this is great Indian / Middle Eastern fusion!”
“Tour President Woodrow Wilson's final, Georgian revival home, which looks the same today as it did when Wilson lived here in the 1920s. The historic site also hosts exciting events, from vintage game nights to garden parties in spring.”
“Need to run to a drug store, Rite Aid is located within 5 blocks and its open 24/7”
“A really cool museum with tons of secret doors to find when you get inside. ”
