Ride to the top of the elevator for beautiful views of the Penobscot Narrows!

Located near Historic Fort Knox. You can take the elevator to the observatory at the top of the bridge.

Great stop in Stockton Springs on your way to Acadia--bridge observatory (you take an elevator up; view is spectacular!) and historic fort/site to explore. There is a cute giftshop, and we've also randomly come across special events (i.e., "pirate day" for the kids) and guided tours when stopping in. From their (Maine gov't) website: "Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory is the crown jewel of coastal Maine, offering spectacular 360-degree views of the Penobscot River and Bay, the Maine countryside and the distant western mountains."
