This is a must see on your trip. Sit in your car with the handbrake off and appear to roll uphill backwards. Really!!

Optical illusion that makes the a719 road feel as though your going uphill when you really are going downhill. The Coastal A719 road from Whitestone Cottage self catering accommodation to Dunure passes this at 3 miles it has breathtaking views over the Firth of Clyde to Arran & Campbelltown.

Electric Brae is another popular tourist attraction. It is modest but I would tell anyone to drive there, even for the breathtaking views alone! 15 mins away and en route to Heads of Ayr Farm Park, this optical illusion makes a freewheeling vehicle appear to be drawn uphill by a mysterious force. Historically, it was incorrectly thought that there was a magnetic or electric attraction causing it. It is, however, an optical illusion. Beware of slow moving cars as you approach!
