Cataño is the smallest town of Puerto Rico's 78 municipalities, but its proximity to San Juan has earned it the unofficial nickname of La Antesala de la Capital ("The lobby of the capital"). In fact, ferries leave the port of Cataño every 30 minutes for the five-minute trip across the bay to Old San Juan.
