Easy stroll from cottage 46 and worth the effort. Also be sure to checkout the Highlands Botanical Station which is less than ten minute from cottage 46. Very nice boardwalk around the lake and high mountain bog areas.

Run by the University of North Carolina and other schools, they are committed to native plants. Enjoy trails around a beautiful lake with many unusual plants and trees marked with scientific names. College courses are taught here a biologists come to study salamanders and rare plants.

This gem is a perfect place to learn more about the abundant natural delights in Highlands. A very fun and educational place for kids of all ages.
