Stunning inactive volcano with 2 hiking paths to the top

An old crater. You can walk a circle on the top of the crater. Great view over Myvatn area. You have to hike up the slope towards the peak of the crater, and then take a walk round. Wonderful.

One of the most popular hiking destinations in the Mývatn area. There are two permitted routes to get to the top of the 430m high crater, the easier one from the parking lot right by it, and a more challenging one (that takes approximately 45 minutes) from Dimmuborgir. Hiking around the crater itself takes about an hour.
