This whole area has got to have the most spectacular coastline! When you park in the parking lot, there’s a sign with an arrow pointing to the left that says “glass beach”. This was the old original beach that is now protected. You cannot get down there. If you go to the right of the parking lot…
You can’t visit Fort Bragg and not go visit Glass Beach. It’s amazing if you know where to look. And I do! So ask me and I’ll tell you where the glass is still deep and plentiful.
The former city dump-turned-iconic destination -- glass fragments from years of sea-churn glisten in the surf and sun.
“Great for kids, fun for adults as well. A historic train through the redwoods with a few open top cars to get fresh air on the ride. A bit of food available on board, but better to grab something in Fort Bragg before or after. A beer on board is never a bad idea either.”
“Beautiful hike through the redwoods! You will pay for a day pass. Make sure you get a map. I took the trail to the waterfall. You can also ride your bike, but only about half way. There is an area with tables and bike racks so you can lock up and walk to the waterfall. After passing the waterfall, the trail loops back to where you started. The trail is very well maintained and relatively easy UNTIL you pass the waterfall. It is uphill climb after that, and I had to plant myself on a log a few times to rest. The trees and creeks are breathtakingly beautiful. It takes about 3 hours for about 5 miles, and not because I’m old, but because you want to stop and enjoy, and well yeah, rest a bit. I would also recommend bringing a fanny pack and a bottle of water. After my excursion, I drove to the beach that was close by.(you can also walk, but by that time I was tired and dirty.) The beach is under a bridge. Small, but pretty, with clean bathrooms and DRINKING fountains. You can tailor your day there buy planning walks on different trails, or just a quick visit. It just depends on how outdoorsy you are, or what other things you have planned. I loved it..Enjoy! ”
“Beautiful 47 acres of gardens and ocean views. Favorites are observation house, veggie garden, dahlia garden in bloom & Rhododendrons in bloom. Festival of Lights, Art in the Garden and much more. ”

“Nice boardwalk that takes you closer to the water. You will be able to see some seals sometimes.”
