This is an iconic local hike that takes you up a steep ravine on stone steps and a narrow trail, crossing wooden bridges and (in the winter) gushing cascades. Best to go early before the majority of people arrive, especially on weekends. To get there, drive up Bolinas-Fairfax road for about 10-15 minutes until you reach a lake (Alpine Lake). You'll cross a dam. Just after the dam, at a sharp bend in the road, you'll see a few parking pullouts at the trailhead. You can do this as an up-and-back hike or make a 7-mile loop. The loop is BEAUTIFUL if you have the time and energy. There's a map at the trailhead. Be sure to snap a photo of the map before you hike for reference.
