Since 1951: "Long Live the Eddy!"
8.5 miles. around the corner from Barton Springs is Deep Eddy, another spring-fed escape. This popular pool is great for kids, and there's plenty of space on the hill for a picnic lunch.
Lots of people know Barton Springs for the fresh cold spring fed pool but not as many know Deep Eddy. The only difference is a solid bottom vs Barton Springs Natural bottom. Make sure you grab some Jim Jims on the way out!
Another natural springs pool. $5 cover and is more like a real pool (with a paved bottom)
Gorgeous natural spring-fed pool! Not as unique as Barton Springs but still very Austin. Just go! And don’t miss the funny old photographs on display from the 1920’s of people swimming there!
“Located in Zilker Park, this is one of the largest natural pools. Very cheap $5-$10 entrance fee.”
“Since 1951, a favorite neighborhood bar w/ drinks, pool tables, jukebox music, snacks. Pool Burger is directly behind if you need a more substantial bite to eat. Deep Eddy Pool is at the bottom or the hill adjacent to the River if you want to take a swim before hitting these fun spots.”
“Definitely not fancy but Magnolia Cafe has been serving amazing pancakes and other grub in Austin LONG before Austin was the place to eat. I love their gingerbread pancakes (with bananas and pecans). ”
“An Austin neighborhood institution. The restaurant is a bit reserved, but the bar scene (and menu) are great for a bite. ”
