South Austin Museum of Popular Culture
Unusual museum that specializes in "old Austin" music scene and poster artists.
This is a must-see stop for the culture of South Austin Funk. Outside and in you will see colorful & funky art.
The South Austin Museum of Popular Culture is a funny hole in the wall with art and other odd things.
It's defined as a "museum," but in reality it's a quirky trip back in time that explores Austin's "weird" culture, often musical. Cheap (throw a donation into the bucket), pretty small (you'll be out within an hour) and definitely worth a look.
“House-made mole sauce & other interior Mexican specialties are the draw at this no-frills bar/grill.”
“Local artist come together to showcase in a down to earth gallery setting. Walk out with some stylish originals! :)”
“Unless they have run out of items, they will have a delicious assortment of pastries, breads, and desserts. They do not have the capacity for big crowds, but plenty of folks go there. ”
“If you want a pizza delivered, this is who you call. They have some great menu options. If you want to play a game of pool, walk or drive over and play while waiting for your pizza. (FYI: Corner Bar is next door if you want something more than beer... Brown's BBQ trailer is also next door - GOOD BBQ!)”
