The Taygetus, Taugetus, Taygetos or Taÿgetus is a mountain range in the Peloponnese peninsula in Southern Greece. The highest mountain of the range is Mount Taygetus, also known as the "Profitis Ilias", or "Prophet Elias". The name is one of the oldest recorded in Europe, appearing in the Odyssey.

Can you reach the summit at 2.407m? Taygetos mountain has an Alpine zone. Only for physically able guests who have the proper hiking gear. The path is very well marked and you don't need a guide(when the mountain is free of snow). Carry at least 4liters of water/person and allow 10 hours round trip hike time.

This is the highest peak in Mountain Taygetos. It is a worldwide famous peak, for its shape which looks like a Pyramid. From here you can enjoy the view to both the Laconian and Messinian Bays. When the weather allows it, during the morning you can also see the peak of Mountain Psiloritis located in Crete!
