If you're looking for a different kind of adventure, then come to Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo. This area is a coastal dune that is popularly known as the perfect spot for sand surfing (also known as sand boarding). Considering there are only a few places in the world where you can go sand surfing, this is the best place to be for those looking for a unique challenge. Plus, although there are coastal dunes spread across Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines, the unique Gumuk Pasir Parangkusumo is the only spot that is commercially used for sand surfing. Try the sand boarding or just take a walk on the sand dunes and took selfies as if you're in middle east. alternatively you can enjoy exploring the sand dunes and beaches on off-road jeep. it would be better to do the sand boarding in early morning (before 8:30) or late afternoon (after 3:30) since the sands are pretty hot. while you're here, it is a good opportunity to visit the cemoro sewu beach, just in the opposite site of the road. you can hide from the sun burn under the cypress trees.
