This is an unashamed Dublin boozer just off Grafton Street. I’ve had many a great night here, this pub was once the City Morgue and was later converted into a chapel for the Moravian Brethren, hence the high ceilings and the Gothic style windows. McDaids has been identified by Joycean scholars as the setting for the opening of his story, Grace. Famous Irish writer Brendan Behan was a regular in the pub and he would regularly entertain the crowd with his vast repertoire. It is said that Behan based some of his characters in The Hostage and Borstal Boy on publicans he met in McDaid's. There are no gimmicks, no diddly-i fiddles in the corner. Famous feet trod in and out of this pub so frequently that it probably deserves a walk of fame on the pavement outside. 3 Harry Street +353 1 6794395
