Take the tour hosted by air force retirees with lots of knowledge. A great choice for time well spent.

This is not for aviation lovers only, but for those who enjoy military and commercial aviation history. The “Boneyard” is world famous. This might be the last chance to see some of histories greatest aircrafts.

Since this is an active military base, it's not open to the general public except during an open house and air show. As was the case on this visit. It is your very typical air base and it was your very typical air show with civilian and largely military aircraft. Lots of static displays, plenty of personnel to answer your questions. Plenty of food and drink and port-a-potties. Access onto the base is limited, but getting into and parking was easy, although it was a bit of a hike to the viewing area. but I guess that is to be expected. All in all, a fun day.

Davis-Monthan AFB's role in the storage of military aircraft began after World War II, and continues today. It has evolved into "the largest aircraft boneyard in the world". The guided bus tours of AMARG are available Monday thru Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
