How cool is this place?! Well...the water is usually really cold however it's a unique spot you can slide in the water on rock and into the pool of water at the bottom. It's like an all natural water park!
A fun way to enjoy the outdoors, join in the fun while sliding down a natural slick rock into a refreshing pool of river water.
This is Western North Carolina’s premier waterslide. This place is near area waterfalls.
... everyone talks about Sliding Rock... the enormous natural stone water slide... even Matthew McConaughey was spotted here recently... pay a modest fee per carload to enter.
Slide down nature's water slide - the cold water will wake you up for sure but worth the experience!
“Water Fall just off the road, Highway 276 (Old Wagon Gap Road). This section of HWY 276 has a lot to offer, so a great day trip from Asheville, just outside the little town of Brevard, NC. Visit the Fish Hatchery and Education Center, Sliding Rock, Pink Beds, Cradle of Forestry and access the Blue Ridge Parkway around Mile Marker 300, near Pisgah Inn (have lunch at Pisgah Inn or in the town of Brevard).”
“Great place to visit in the warmer months so you can swim in the water. The water is very cold! You could spend all day here, sit on the rocks by the water, take a picnic. Recommend taking water shoes with you as rocks can be slippery. It’s an hour drive near Brevard area.”
“Fast and delicious with a wide variety toppings for salads, burritos or tacos! ”
“There is tubing in this region and the Davidson River is a lovely spot- with ice cream available at iconic "Dolly's" across the street...”
“Did you know that the practice of forestry in the United States began here in Western North Carolina? Visit the Cradle of Forestry for easy, enjoyable walks in the forest and guided tours where you can learn about what it takes to grow and maintain a healthy forest. You'll be amazed to compare the old photos of all the surrounding mountains completely bare of trees compared to the deep, rich forests surrounding us today. ”
