Truly the best local beach if you want to get away from the crowds. It's best to come here at low tides when the beach is vast. There is no car park or toilets here and you just have to park on the narrow approach road to the beach and walk, but it's truly a stunning beach. Dogs are welcome on this beach all year round.

Best to go when the tide is out. Limited parking but as a result Wonwell beach is usually wonderfully empty of people. I’ve spent many an evening sitting by a driftwood fire knowing the dogs, who are welcome all year round, can have a drink from the fresh water stream.

15 minutes – free - TQ7 4EY Limited parking on the lane leading down to the beach. Drive all the way down to use the turning space at the end to ensure you can drive out easily if it gets parked up! Check the tides as the beach becomes limited at high tides. Low tide huge swathes open up with good walking up or down the River Erme.
