This is more of a modern jazz crowd, probably stuff that’s a little more accessible. The times that I have gone have been stripped down nights, a duo or a trio. I ended up here pretty randomly the first time—I stopped in because someone told me I had to try the BBQ pulled-mushroom sandwich. Because of its location in the Civic Center, which is kind of an afterwork area, weekdays tend to be pretty packed. Weekends are the best time to go, or earlier or later in the day any day—depending on when you want to get your jazz and mushroom sandwich on.
Prince liked to go here when he visited SF. If that's not enough of a recommendation, I don't know what is!
One of the most venerated jazz clubs in the country. Live jazz seven day’s a week, coupled with cocktails and soul food. Get here around 5-7pm for a good table, or plan to hang by the bar until a table opens up.
It has the best live jazz music in San Francisco. No cover charge. Live music every night.
Classic spirits, New American small plates & music in retro-influenced digs with a blues-club vibe. -
“This is an awesome, interactive museum that will keep you engaged for hours. Learn about the natural world while playing with hands-on exhibits. Great for adults and children.”
“Great French bistro in the heart of Hayes Valley. They have modern twists on classic cocktails and a beautiful setting to enjoy your meal. ”
“Wonderful tacos in small portions so you can try them all. Super yummy. Great place for groups if you ask for the back space.”
“Dubbed "the crookedest street in the world", this section of Lombard St is frequently driven or walked down by tourists looking to experience the famously steep hills of San Francisco. The Powell/Hyde cable car passed right by the top of this famous landmark.”
