Built for Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein and husband of Percy Bysshe Shelley, one of the great Romantic poets.
Built in 1866 by the son of Mary Shelley (the author of Frankenstein), this is the oldest surviving theatre in Bournemouth. It’s a beautiful, historic building which hosts a range of plays and other entertainment.
The Shelly Theatre is a 5-10 min walk away staging a variety of shows, films, pop up opera and much more. It was built for the famous author of Frankenstein, Mary Shelly who is actually buried in st Peters church in Bournemouth town centre.
