The Memorial Union is a Madison icon. Sit out by the lake, have a drink, enjoy the views. The Union pulls people by the hundreds on a nice summer weekend.

Wisconsin's finest public building that just underwent a four= year renovation project. It has the Rathskeller, The Terrace, and Hoofers Outdoor Recreation.

The "Union" is where Madisonians of all ages spend sunny afternoons and breezy summer evenings with their friends. Live music Thursdays and Fridays. Always good beer and the best ice cream in town made by the UW School of Agriculture.

Recently renovated, we actually haven't been to the new space but we've heard wonderful things about the updates they've made. My recommendation is to get a pitcher to share, and find a beautiful iconic terrace table and chairs to sit and watch the lake. There's often sail boats to see, and live music on the weekend evenings. Wonderful people watching in a great outdoor space.
