Just one short hour south of Artesia is a jewel in the southwest. sitting Bull Falls is a family favorite destination for a bad day adventure. There is a short paved, handicap accessible path for a scenic view of the falls as well as a more vigorous path to the top of the falls. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy your day! *There is a small fee per vehicle to enter the park.

A rare gem in the hot desert, Sitting Bull Falls Recreation Area is an oasis offering cool pools of water and the awesome Sitting Bull Falls. There's access to many trails and it's just an hour and twenty minutes away with beautiful scenery along the way. It's also somewhat close to Carlsbad Caverns, so consider combining the two for a day-long adventure.
