Grab some bagels from the famous Bodo's Bagels and then cross the street to walk on Grounds toward the Rotunda.
You'll stop at the Memorial to Enslaved Labors along the way.
Walk around Grounds.
Check out where Edgar Allen Poe slept. Ask for a tour at the Rotunda at the University of Virginia. if you like or just enjoy the beautiful trees and the history of the area.
Dogs are welcome.
There are also great eateries (with outside dining or to go) at "The Corner" for breakfast lunch such as Take it Away, The White Spot in the strip with some parking /parking garages.
Grab some UVA bling at Mincers and check out the stores along the strip too!

After that walk along the Downtown Mall there and check out the local shops and stop along the Monument to the First Amendment and feel free to leave a note in chalk or draw a heart ❤️ to note how much you love your best friend who is with you on this trip.
If you don't come in the morning - definitely come here in the evening!!
