Using authentic ingredients and traditional methods with a modern twist, you’ll uncover the secrets behind classic sweets, share stories of Greek pastry culture, and, of course, indulge in your delicious creations. • I’ll welcome you to my shop, Dessert Wise, with a Greek coffee or herbal tea and share my passion for Greek desserts. Next, I’ll walk you through the key ingredients: fragrant spices, fresh walnuts, honey, and phyllo dough. • Under my guidance, you’ll mix the karidopita batter, adding walnuts, cinnamon, and cloves to create an aromatic cake. I’ll demonstrate baking techniques to ensure the perfect texture. • Make baklava by layering phyllo sheets with a spiced nut mixture, brushing each layer with butter, and cutting the pastry into traditional diamond shapes before baking. • Savor your freshly baked desserts, paired with traditional coffee or sweet wine, and engage in a lively discussion about Greek gastronomy. This tasting against a historic backdrop is a journey into the heart of Greek wine culture. We’ll explore some of Greece’s most exceptional wines, selected to showcase the diversity of our country’s terrain and native grape varieties. • I’ll greet you on the 1st floor of Tekila restaurant in the heart of Athens. We’ll sip our first wine and discuss how climate, soil, and traditional techniques have shaped its character. • We’ll taste wines from several more regions, delving into the history and unique qualities of each one. In an interactive segment, I’ll teach you how to analyze wines, identify key flavor profiles, and distinguish subtle variations. • We’ll tie together what we’ve learned by exploring an especially deep and complex wine. I’ll answer questions and provide personalized recommendations. You’ll leave with a refined palate, newfound tasting skills, and an appreciation for Greek grapes and the winemakers who transform them into pleasure.

Visit local streets and see, taste and shop for cheese, cured meat, fruits, sweets and spices in the markets full of colour, scents and noise. Sample olives, oil and honey from a farmer and local barrel wine made on the tavernas premises. On tours starting at 3.00pm , the fish and meat market are starting to close so we go quickly to see as much as possible. On Sundays and weekly tours starting after 3.30pm markets ARE SHUT so on this tour we will visit a taverna and eat traditional Athenian food and go to a spice shop and a honey and olive oil producer to taste these amazing products! We will enjoy a fantastic deli with a cured meat and cheese tasting and sample Greek coffee and fruits from a local producer. Many tastings offered including sit down meals of meat and fish on all our tours, as you learn about Greek culture from people who live it daily. You will have many friends in Athens at the end of this experience! Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options are available however, vegan options NOT available on Sundays. Tasting the Present: 3 Iconic Modern Wines (30 mins) You’ll be seated at a rustic counter where Anton introduces you to three cutting-edge Greek wines: A volcanic Assyrtiko a grape that originats from Santorini island, sharp, saline, and mineral-rich. A structured rosé from a rare Aegean varietals, vibrant yet refined. A natural red wine made in Amphora, grown in small plots, expressive of place and process. Each wine is poured with insight—stories of the land, winemaker, and method—all brought to life with Anton’s sommelier background and storytelling flair. 3. Tasting the Past: Wines of Antiquity (20 mins) Next, you’ll sample two wines inspired by ancient winemaking techniques.
