Food scene

Delicious Food. Make sure to try the Rajas Cheese Appetizer! It's a treat. This place is best for adults, since it's a bit pricy. You'll want to make reservations in advance if you want to get a table. The county is dry, so Canyon Grill is BYOB! They provide wine glasses, but you need to bring your own wine, spirits or beer. Many folks come with coolers. Enjoy!

Great pizza and a fun vibe. You'll find a variety of beer for adults since the owner also owns the Tavern next door, but the atmosphere is definitely designed for families. This pizzeria is just 5 minutes from Rock Spring Resort!

Local Tavern with fun bands and a great crowd. Welcoming and friendly atmosphere. There tends to be more men than women at this Tavern, so if you are female, you will absolutely be welcomed! Check out their Facebook page to find out what band is playing!

Sightseeing

This place is a blast for kids! It's huge and is a favorite for our family. Our little ones always crash after a couple hours at Xtreme Air Mega Park.

Ruby Falls is a must see if you are visiting Chattanooga for the first time! It's a pretty extensive caving experience, but there aren't many low places and crawling is not necessary. One thing to note is that this place is easiest to visit if your family can all walk. We made the mistake of taking 2 toddlers there once, and it was a long tour!

This is a beautiful place to hike. There are amazing waterfalls and rock structures. Be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes, because there are a ton of stairs. Cloudland Canyon is loved by both locals and visitors.

Creative Discovery Museum is a fun, interactive, affordable place to take children. There's a giant water area that mimics the Chattanooga river that kids can play in, an art area that constantly changes mediums so kids can discover what it's like to stamp, rub, paint and reuse materials, and a dinosaur dig area filled with sand.

The Pocket is a personal favorite. It's about 20 minutes from here. It's beautiful! There are wooden (platform) walking trails, and there's a waterfall at the end of the hike. It's short, and fairly easy to accomplish. (Unless you venture off the platforms. In which case, there's even more to explore!) April and May are the best months to go, because the wildflowers are in full bloom! Highly recommend.

The stairs down to Cherokee Falls from Sitton's Gulch trailhead *might* make you question your decision, but I promise the view of the falls is worth it! Bonus: swimming is allowed!

Choose your own adventure with this Monteagle Mtn. hike-- a somewhat grueling 12.7 miler on the Fiery Gizzard trail or the more moderate 2.19 mile loop. Either way, the dip at the end is a treat! :)

For only a 20 minute drive from downtown Chattanooga to Soddy Daisy area, the North Chick Blue Hole feels like a serious oasis. North Chickamauga Creek is nestled between Signal and Mowbray mountains and features several deep swimming holes along the way. For an easy mile hike in, you can find a small secluded pool or one of the larger spots with deep water, rope swing and boulders for those who aren’t game for swimming.
