Foraging walk and weaving with a contemporary fibre artist

Join me, a fiber artist, for a foraging walk and a hands-on weaving workshop at Balmoral Beach and bush trail, where you’ll collect material such as leaves, shells and you'll create a beautiful piece of woven art. • Stroll along the foreshore and adjacent bushland, collecting natural treasures like shells, native leaves, and grasses while taking in the beauty of the coastal landscape. •I’ll show you sculptural basketry technique including looping to transform materials into intricate patterns using just your hands and imagination. • Craft your own woven artwork with my guidance, embracing the meditative rhythm of weaving and the joy of working with natural materials. This experience is not about perfection but about play, creativity, and connection with nature. Come with an open mind and leave with a unique, handmade piece infused with the essence of the landscape.

Explore Melbourne's creative hub, Fitzroy with a food writer

Join me, a food writer, for an in-depth tour of Fitzroy and Collingwood, two of Melbourne’s hippest neighbourhoods, where I’ll introduce you to the best of the city’s eclectic inner north. Be sure to arrive hungry, as there will be plenty of opportunities to grab artisan snacks to eat throughout the tour. • We’ll start at INI, one of my favourite Melbourne coffee spots, known for their chic interior, excellent coffee, and alternative lattes. • Next, we’ll walk along Smith Street, one of Melbourne’s most historic and diverse retail and entertainment strips. I’ll tell you about the area’s history, and more. You’ll learn about some of my favourite nearby places to eat, drink, and shop at. • We’ll stop in at two of Collingwood’s best bakeries, Falco, and Dua Bakehouse, where you can stock up on some of Melbourne’s best baked goods. • After this, we’ll turn onto Johnston Street, and cross into Fitzroy. You’ll learn more about the area, and I’ll show you some street art and tell you about the area’s artistic aspects. • Finally, we’ll head onto Brunswick Street, finishing at the Punter’s Club, one of Melbourne’s best classic Aussie pubs. If it’s a Saturday tour, you’ll also get a chance to explore two nearby markets. At the end of the tour, I’ll give you a list of the places that we visited, along with several other recommendations in the area should you wish to explore more.

Glowing things in nature are among Tasmania's most spectacular natural wonders. Pink-glowing possums, pale green-glowing wallabies, blue-glowing sugar gliders, red or pink-glowing owls, and all different colours of glowing flowers and fungi. And we may even see an endangered bandicoot or a platypus! Let’s go explore in this truly unforgettable experience! I am an enthusiastic scientist, and I'll share the glowing world with you through fascinating stories and I’ll show you how to get great photos to delight your friends! We will explore a safe forested parkland near the city in search of glowing marsupials, birds, flowers, and other flora and fauna. The long and narrow shape of this splendid park naturally concentrates the animals, and because it is frequented by walkers and cyclists, the animals are less timid than in more remote settings, allowing us to watch them. I’ll supply the ultraviolet (UV) torches and the natural history narrative, while nature will supply the wonder and awe. I'll keep an eye on the likelihood of the aurora, sea sparkles (marine bioluminescence or “bio”), and ghost mushrooms, and if they are likely to be visible nearby and spectacularly strong, we may have the option to go see them too! Please note that the tour generally runs around 2 to 2 1/2 hours, depending on how much time we spend observing; please tell me if you have time limitations.

Upon your arrival to Oahu, you'll begin to see how surfing is Hawaiian culture. As you get into Waikiki, everywhere you look you will see surfboards...... It is now time to embrace your surroundings and let us show you the Hawaiian way. We will begin by introducing the details of the surfboard. Then discuss the fundamentals including positioning on board, etiquette, paddling, how & when to stand up, & what to do once you are on the wave. We will discuss ocean safety, awareness and safety. Once the land training is done, we will walk right across the street and enter the water, don't worry about carrying any surfboards, we have a cart for that. Once we are in the water we will guide you to the best spot to position yourself to catch waves. We will be by your side and provide the extra push to get on the wave. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or intermediate surfer, we can help all levels advance your skills on a surfboard and teach you about the area you are surfing in. After the lesson we will go back to the shop, have the barista whip us up a drink from our coffee bar, relax, and chat. Other things to note ***Check in 20 min prior to lesson*** We provide LOCKERS to store personal items.
