Skateboarding for beginners with a pro

Learn the basics of skateboarding from me, a professional skateboarder, at this outdoor skate park in Boston. This family-friendly lesson is aimed at all skill levels. I recommend bringing your own equipment if possible—Orchard Skateshop is one good place to buy a new board. • You’ll get to know me and your fellow participants and share your experience level—if any. I’ll then lead a stretching and warmup session. • I’ll teach you the basics of skateboarding, including rolling on level ground and turning, before helping you learn how to ride down a small ramp. • Finally, I’ll answer any questions you have and make recommendations for continuing your skateboarding journey here in Boston or back at home. You’ll roll away with new skills and confidence—and maybe even a budding passion for skating.

Adventure Hike with the Herd

Everything is better with goats. (It's true) Designed for people who love being active, out in nature and love animals! Come hike with our herd of rescued goats on beautiful forest trails in a remote part of the Catskills, under 2 hours from Manhattan. You'll become part of the herd when we start on a 2.5 mile hike on meandering paths and over beautiful streams, enjoying the wildlife and scenery while we forage for some of the goat's favorite treats, like leaves, acorns and pine branches. Watching the goats in a natural habitat and bonding with them is truly magical. The hike takes 1.5 - 2 hrs, depending on group pace and extra time is spent meeting our other herd of smaller breed goats. For those who are interested, visitors can meet and learn about each goat and breed, as well as their rescue stories, behaviors and personalities.Your guide can tell you more than you ever thought you wanted to know about goats - so just ask! If you are looking for a unique outdoor experience that combines your love of animals, hiking and nature, this is for you! Please note: * Sturdy hiking boots are highly recommended as the terrain and conditions can vary. * This experience is best suited for guests ages 14 and over. Think we should make an exception? This sailing experience funds our non-profit outreach programs. We leave from Tindeco Wharf and sail into the east harbor. From there, depending on the wind we sail toward the inner harbor or out past Fort McHenry into the Patapsco river with a views of the Key bridge and marine terminal. Do as much, or as little as you like. Ask to help hoist the main sail or trim the jib or just sit back and enjoy the ride. Bring your own snacks and beverages to enjoy and just take in the breeze and enjoy the sights and sounds of sailing. This is not a lesson. Book an Introduction to Sailing experience to get started sailing. Or book a private lesson. Other things to note: We're sailing on the 36' sailboat so it's unlikely you'll get wet (unless it is raining) and life jackets are not required. We will sail in light rain, but not in thunderstorms. It is always cooler on the water. Bring a jacket/coat for spring and fall sailings. Sunscreen at least 20 minutes before your sailing. Communication is on AirBnB messages. Please check it. It’s a beautiful time to be out in nature. I can lead a two or more person group at a reduced rate. If you don't see a time available write me and we find at a time that is good for you! We will meet at Canalside Experiences, (706 waterloo Geneva Road) and then take a 1.5 hour paddle of the Cayuga-Seneca Canal, an extension of the Erie Canal, that connects Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. Along the way we will look for local wildlife .... bald eagles are a possibility, along with hunting Osprey, Great Blue Heron, and a variety of sparrows, swallows and warblers. Beavers are resident along the canal and we will see evidence of their work.The waters are calm with very little boat traffic. It's a great way to see the Finger Lakes! This is one of my favorite places to paddle and I look forward to showing it to you! I am a retired teacher and have over 20 years kayaking, paddleboarding and nature watching in the Finger Lakes. I monitor blue bird boxes and help with bird surveys at Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge. You don't need any kayak experience to join but it's preferred if guests are comfortable around the water and can swim or float comfortably in the water. -CPR/First Aid Certified

As the evening winds down you'll enjoy the spectacular colors as the sun sets over Fort McHenry and the city. Other things to note: Come prepared for a enjoyable sail. Remember that it is cooler on the water, so a jacket or coat might be a good idea in the spring or fall. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before getting on the boat. Communication is on AirBnB messages.
