Financial District public art walk with a curator

Explore the Financial District’s iconic public art scene through a walking tour with a curator, visiting sculptures by renowned 20th-century artists and gaining insights into the evolving role of public art in urban spaces. • Visit Zuccotti Park and Louise Nevelson Plaza, where we’ll engage in lively conversation about the role of architecture and design in public art and the importance of location. • See pieces like Group of Four Trees by Jean Dubuffet and the Red Cube by Isamu Noguchi, and learn about the artists’ intentional decisions to interact with the surrounding environments in unique ways. • Learn about the history of public art in the Financial District, and the artists who lived and worked in the Coenties Slip area. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how public art transforms urban landscapes, enriches civic spaces, and shapes cultural identity.

彩色玻璃遮阳板工坊

*GROUP DISCOUNTS FOR 2+ PEOPLE* Learn the basics of stained glass copper foil technique and go home with your own stained glass suncatcher you made yourself! The workshop includes instruction on how to design and structure your piece, create a pattern + template, cut glass, use a diamond grinder, apply and burnish copper foil, and assemble and solder the pieces together. Great for couples, groups and team-building! Copper foil is a great intro to the art of stained glass, but it is time consuming. You may choose from existing templates in the studio (we highly recommend this!) or create your own design - I will help modify it based on skill level and timing. Designs should be hand-sized and no more than 11 individual pieces; contact me for template examples. A very simple suncatcher takes many hours to create, so please be sure to follow our design guidelines and limitations and know this going in. Proper safety precautions will be taught in each step and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided along w/ all materials. Masks are not required, but are highly recommended for the soldering step to block the fumes. This is a 2nd-floor studio so you will be need to be able to climb a flight of stairs. If you are booking in a colder season, make sure you wear layers (though the barn is heated). There is no food allowed for safety reasons unless kept and ate outside.
