Great preservation efforts led to this WW2 battleship being “saved” from the scrap metal yards, & most recently great local architect Chip Hemmingway designed the new perimeter wooden walkway around it!
Across the river from Downtown Wilmington is the Battleship USS North Carolina. Walk the decks and imagine what life was like in naval warfare during World War II. A true historic icon located right in Wilmington. Make this a must see!
“One of the nation's premiere gardens featuring 67 acres of beautiful Southern nature. Explore walking trails, formal gardens, and beautiful big oaks.”
“Don’t forget to check out the display on the Wilmington Film Scene! You could be standing in the place your favorite movie was filmed!”
“This is our big art house in town. Its a nonprofit museum with changing exhibits in 2 wings. Half-price bottles of wine and open late (till 9pm) on Thursday nights. They usually have live music in the cafe or the performance space on Thursday nights. If you like slightly sweet whites, try their Chardonnay. I generally don't like Chard.”
“Interesting, Beautiful home with original slave quarters that you can walk through.”
“Great learning experience for all. Watch the movie, tour the museum and take the walk around the grounds. You can also go with a guide for more information. ”
