“Argentiere is about 20 minutes drive north of Chamonix and can be reached easily by bus or train. In winter it is best known for being home to the famous Les Grands Montets ski area and in summer it is a great place for hiking and climbing. Argentiere village is small but very pretty with a few nice bars and restaurants to explore. It is worth having a little wander around the old part of the village past the tourist office and over the bridge to see the traditional stone chalets and farmhouses.”
“Why not take a walk to the Argentiere glacier. This walk takes you to a spectacular viewpoint over the ice falls of the Argentiere glacier at 2338m altitude. Advancing at an average speed of 1 metre per day, this is a truly impressive glacier. On your way you will pass Chalet-Refuge de Lognan which serves good simple food.”
