Fort Stevens was part of the extensive fortifications built around Washington, D.C., during the American Civil War.

During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln visited this Fort, and was here that he was the only U.S. President to be actively fired on in battle. This is a beautiful, wide grassy park perfect for a picnic, to play games, or watch the sunset.
