Our kids loved walking up the hill to explore the Thuya Gardens and the Asticou Terraces at the end of the day. Great way to get the wiggles out of them before dinner.
Park at the Asticou dock and walk up the stone steps on the ledges overlooking Northeast Harbor Marina. Continue on to view beautiful perennial gardens and incredible botanical library.
Our favorite spot on MDI - take the short hike up to the garden via the Asticou Trail.
“A visit to the island is not complete without a tea or lunch with popovers. The Asticou Inn is one of the view large historic hotels still on the island. Spectacular view.”
“Want fried haddock or shrimp with fries, this is the place. Take out or sit inside. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
“Right down the end of Fernald Point Road. . Takes only about 12 minutes to get to the top. Fantastic views. Have your Acadia National Park pass visable in your car. Easy hike but with a few rocks to scramble over a bit, near the top; not difficult.”
