Leon’s Fine Poultry & Oyster Shop is a comfortable Southern joint serving fried chicken, oysters, lots of salads, cheap beer, soft serve, rosé on tap, tons of grower Champagne, and good cocktails. The restaurant is housed in an old body shop that belonged to Leon Ravenel—a businessman that served Charleston residents for many years. The space preserves much of that industrial history, complete with functioning garage doors, concrete floors, and some remaining memorabilia from Leon himself. Leon’s has been recognized as a leader in Charleston’s food scene by Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, Conde Nast Traveler, New York Times, James Beard Foundation, Travel & Leisure, Eater, and more.
Shrimp po boys! Need I say more? Also secret tip- On the weekends when I bike or walk by here on my way home I stop by Leon’s side service window. Their side window serves only soft serve with sprinkles in a cup or cone. Charleston is hot 10-11 months out of the year, so this is a nice cool perk on…
