Just North of the Van Ness metro is Calvert Woodley, a well-stocked liquor store. They have a good selection of wine, weekly sales, and deli cheeses.

Great deals on wine here. Be sure to check out their 90 point wines for under $20 bins! The clerks always give great advice and they have a full deli.
