When you think of famous Sydney beaches, you don’t think of Clovelly, which is exactly the point. It looks like the rocky coves of Italy, but what it lacks in sand it makes up for in sea life. The long bay is protected from fishing, and swimming in it is like snorkelling in an aquarium. Gorgeous gays like to sunbathe here and inevitably end up in the water. You’ll see rockfish and blue groper, but the human scenery above water is just as captivating as the marine life below—especially when the local professional rugby league team comes down for a dip or to cool their thighs after training.
Beautiful calm beach perfect for young children. Lots of free 4 hour parking available.
Clovelly Beach is a small and tranquil beach, located the mouth of a narrow bay between two rocky ridges. Concrete platforms and promenades have been constructed on both sides of the bay. A saltwater pool is located on the southern side of the beach. The Sea Salt Cafe is located at the beach
Worth making effort on warm day. Easy to drive. Snorkelling, sunbathing, swimming laps.
Our local beach. Walk down Clovelly RD for 15 mins or jump on a bus outside Crust Pizza and you’ll be there in 3 mins (bus 338 or 339). Families with little one love the waveless beach and everyone else loves swimming and snorkelling and lazing on the concrete deck. You can see the resident groupers…
This is a huge manmade concrete ocean pool, where you can go snorkelling and swimming protected from the big surf, there's also a sandy beach at the end, favourite place to go in summer. Free parking is available but it gets busy in summer, 10 minute uber from Bondi
“Beautiful beach with protected rock pool perfect for young children. Great local cafes for breakfast and lunch. Parking can be a little challenging though.”
“Another beautiful and popular beach in Sydney. Bondi and Coogee are the closest ones to the city. The bus 370 goes straight to Coogee from Newtown.”
“Great for a couple of aperol spritz's and some snacks in summer after a day at the beach”
“Excellent restaurant and cafe. Great place to stop before or after a visit to Clovelly Beach.”
“Great burgers and chips for a cheap price tag. One of our favourites, however very popular so the lines can be long. One option is to call ahead to place an order. ”
