A proper Dales town, traditional markets and lots of pubs and cafes. Very scenic drive via Ribblehead. The museum of Dales Life is worth a visit. 40 minute drive away.

Hawes is a small market town and civil parish in Upper Wensleydale in North Yorkshire, England, that was granted its market charter in 1699. Great little place with lots to do. The Ropemakers, the Wensleydale creamery , little gifts shops, pubs, great butchers and bakery. Market day Tuesday.
