The Wignacourt Museum is a museum in Rabat. It has recently been refurbished. It is an 18th-century Baroque building which housed Knights and priests; the Chaplains of the Order of St.John, who took care of St.Paul's Grotto. It is named after Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt, who ruled over the Maltese Islands between 1601 and 1622. Inside Wignacourt museum you will find St Paul's Grotto - Catacombs - World War II Shelters - Museum - Art Museum. Go down to St Paul's Grotto where the saint is believed to have stayed whilst shipwrecked in Malta in 60AD. Explore the labyrinth of Punic, Roman and Christian Hypogea and the complex of World War II Shelters. There is a collection of prominent works by Maltese and European artists, and artefacts from the church and Knights of St John. I love the fact that the Wignacourt museum has a beautifully set coffee place inside a courtyard which is also open for lunch and dinner. A very pretty place. My children love to visit Wignacourt museum time and time again they find the place very intriguing so that's a plus that note for families!

Museum that also includes Catacombs and war shelters

A cheap ticket usually gets you underground through huge areas of war shelters and ancient catacombs, once, gratefully above ground, scan your ticket (don't lose it) into the museum, where a crazy collection of glorious artifacts is slung into side rooms with other treasures better displayed.
