Amsterdam's oldest church, with a contemporary installation art rooster that is always very impressive

This church is an absolute must-see. Stripped of its most of gaudy paint during the protestant reformation, it's a sanctuary of quiet in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the red-light district. Make sure you actually open the paper guide they give you at the door. It's full of interesting facts and it's very cleverly written. Look for the face of the painter in the faux marble to the left of the main door ;-)

It's a beauriful (!) church, right in the heart of the Red Light District but also with buildings of the old Amsterdam University around. Check on the museum Onze Lieve Heer op Solder!
