A day out to Lincoln is a must if you are here for a few days. We are about half an hour away or you can take the train from nearby Ruskington station where you can park your car all day for free. Lincoln’s historic Cathedral is famous for its Lincolnshire Imp which features on Ewerby’s Finch Hatton Pub’s front doors. The Castle is very close to the Cathedral and also worth a visit while you are there. Lincoln has good shopping and restaurants, particularly in the Bailgate area in the historic Cathedral quarter and the recently regenerated Cornhill towards the station. The High Street runs all the way up towards the Cathedral where it turns into the famous “Steep Hill”. If you’re here over Christmas don’t forget to visit Lincoln’s famous Christmas Market.

Lincoln is at the heart of the county and worth a visit. You can explore its Roman origins, medieval heritage and modern-day engineering. The castle and cathedral are must see sites to walk the walls of the castle, view the Victorian prison or even inspect the Magna-Carta. The Cathedral is the centre point for the city and if you are strong willed and good at walking up steep hills, take a stroll up Steep Hill from the historic city centre to the Cathedral. Lincoln also has a number of infamous events during the year. From the 1940’s revival weekend to the revered Christmas Market, there are events year-round worth visiting.
