An ingenious feat of engineering to join branches of the Union Canal.
An interesting visit to the only boat lift of its kind. With a restaurant, visitor centre and play park with water activities it’s fun. Ten min drive
Great for a barge trip up and around the wheel, a great bit of engineering..I’m sure you won’t be disappointed
“The Kelpies are 30-metre-high horse-head sculptures depicting kelpies (shape-shifting water spirits), standing next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal, and near River Carron, in The Helix, a new parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Council Area, Scotland. It is a beautiful day out to enjoy the sculptures and walk around the canals and parks. ”
“Lunch and dinner available. There’s never a dull moment at BTW. We stage live music every Friday and Saturday. We have a fantastic range of entertainment all year round, with regular Stand-up Comedy nights, Book Launches and Local Theatre productions.”
“A beautiful park with acres of land. Popular with runners, dog walkers, cyclists, tourists - in fact, everybody! There is a boating pond, 3 par golf course, woodlands to explore, children's play park. Some wildlife such as squirrels and rabbits with an occasional sighting of a deer (deep in the woods). Pop into Callender House too. Also part of the John Muir Walk route.”
“Support a local, independent coffee bar. Good food, ambient atmosphere and sometimes a blues band in the evening. Good for breakfast, brunch, lunch or snack.”
