Der Alexanderplatz ist ein zentraler Platz in der früheren Königsstadt im Berliner Ortsteil Mitte und wird im Volksmund kurz Alex genannt. Er ist nach dem russischen Zaren Alexander I. benannt.

Mostly favorite shopping area, it has a ton of history as well and is the home for frequent markets on different occasions.

This is eastside. It´s great. And you should be at Alexanderplatz and at the Fernsehturm. But don´t make the mistake and move upstairs. It´s expensive and boring.

The "Alex" is one of the most visited and best-known places in Berlin. Not only is the famous and widely visible television tower located here, the square itself has always been the scene of historical events
