HopCat is great for lunch, dinner or a night on the town. It is located right in the heart of downtown and is walking distance to several other bars and restaurants. We've brought our kids as well so during the day it is very family friendly!
Downtown GR location is the original HopCat! Colorful spot on the very busy Ionia Avenue right next to VanAndel Arena. Huge covered patio allows for outside seating most days spring-summer-fall. Very large selection of beers on tap! Easy walk mostly downhill from our Airbnb.
Listed among Top 50 bars in the US by Draft Magazine. Beer Advocate Magazine has ranked Hop Cat as the #3 Beer Bar in the world, CraftBeer.com has ratedHop Cat the #2 beer bar in the U.S., and from 2012-2016 RateBeer.com has ranked Hop Cat Grand Rapids as the #1 Brewpub in the United States.
tons of local brew options, and the food is out of this world! We prefer not to ask how many calories are in each dish.
“$$ (36 miles) If you plan some time in GR, this would be a great place to visit.”
“It's a cozy brewery in an old chapel (make sure you got a seat in the first part) with some good side dishes.”
“Best known for its laid-back arcade atmosphere, intimidating selection of whiskey (Canadian, Scotch, Irish, American, and a few Michigan-made varieties), and award-winning, giant stuffed burgers, Stella’s Lounge is a downtown destination you won’t want to miss. Flat screens play throwback TV shows from your childhood, and arcade games priced at only 25 cents abound for kids and adults alike. The food offers an impressive variety including several gluten-free and vegan options. Weekends get very busy to be prepared to wait if you can’t go during the week.”
“I eat brunch here at least once a month. Delicious food and best mimosas. They offer variety of fruit juices for mimosas (Orange, guava, cranberry, pineapple etc.)”
