American Craft and decorative arts from 19th - 21st century next to the White House
Great little museum that is often overlooked, right across from the White House.
Small but well-curated exhibits. Fun for everyone, even those with short attention spans!
Always interesting exhibits here, and you can walk over and look at the White House, next door.
The Renwick Gallery is one of our favorite galleries in town, steps from the White House. It was open just few years ago into a gorgeous building. You can find art exhibitions from the Burning Man to beautiful modern pieces. Definitely one of my favourites art spaces in the city.
The Renwick Gallery is a small museum located close to the White House. It focuses on American craft and decorative arts from the 19th to the 21st century. Not a huge time commitment and always interesting! *Free Admission*
“On the national mall, this free Modern Art museum is one of our favorites. The exhibits are intriguing and offer a respite from the historical focus of much of DC. Plus, there is a great coffee shop in the lobby so it makes for a nice break spot between museums! ”
“A great place to sample upcoming chefs and food. A bit of a walk (20 min) and thru a construction area but food is worth it.”
“An after-hours visit to the National Zoo during ZooLights, which illuminates the zoo with more than 500,000 environmentally-friendly LEDs, animated light installations, live music and more. Bid good cheer to various animals on display. ZooLights runs Nov. 29 – Jan. 1 (closed Dec. 24, 25 & 31). ”
“A must visit when in DC, plus they are usually open later than other museums until 7:30 pm! (Just double check with Google prior to heading over for a late visit)”
“The National Museum of Natural History is a natural history museum administered by the Smithsonian Institution, located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., United States. It has free admission and is open 364 days a year.”
