The National Museum of the American Indian is a museum in the United States devoted to the culture of the indigenous peoples of the Americas. It is part of the Smithsonian Institution group of museums and research centers. This space is gorgeous, and we love the outdoor water feature that is made…
(5 miles) This least visited museum has the best Smithsonian restaurant at remarkable prices for bison, salmon, turkey, and excellent chef-prepared meals. this is the one place in DC that I recommend you eat. See Guidebook under restaurants.
This is a beautifully presented history of the American Indian culture contained in an equally beautiful building.
My favorite of the free Smithsonian museums in Washington, DC. The architecture is beautiful, and they have a variety of new and historic exhibitions.
“(4.5 miles) We have probably spent more hours here than any other place in DC. There is something for everyone including hands-on demonstrations, 3-D IMAX movies ( these cost), and a McDonalds that sometimes has aircraft from the museum in their Happy Meals. Even if you’re an adult, it may be worth it to order a couple of Happy Meals.”
“A trip to the National Gallery of Art is one of the top things to do in Washington, DC. Not only will you be stunned by the scale and scope of its exhibitions, but you’ll also be moved by the immerse amount of meaning that the gallery holds for the United States of America. ”
“If you're a tourist or even a local - it's always a good idea to check out the Smithsonian museums. And you can't go wrong with the natural history museum.”
“Truly gorgeous. There's also an outdoor garden where you can sit and relax, and a secret little stone bridge we absolutely adore.”
