The third restaurant from Mark Kuller and chef Haidar Karoum (the other two being Proof and Estadio), Doi Moi is the smart, casual East Asian restaurant every city wants. It's got the mosaic dining room floor. It's got pressed wood chairs. It's definitely got the crab fried rice. Washingtonian has it as one of the best new resaturants of 2014. Name translates as "new change" in Vietnamese, a reference in part to the restaurant's crazy-trendy neighborhood.
Another Michelin 'Bib Gourmand' award winner - "Hip, sleek kitchen furnishing house cocktails & Southeast Asian street fare, including a vegan menu." Located at 14th & S Sts NW.
Modern, forward-thinking Southeast Asian (mostly Vietnamese) food in a cool setting. Probably my personal favorite place to eat.
“Spanish Tapas joint - One of the most popular tapas joints in DC. Can't go wrong with this spot on 14th Street. Recommend driving or taking an Uber/Lyft. Could also take the Metro to Dupont Circle, but is about a 3/4 mile walk from Dupont Circle Metro stop.”
“14th St. Italian restaurant - locals in-the-know go for their every-day happy hour (4-6:30 Monday-Thursday, 3-6:30 Friday-Sunday) for half-priced pizzas and discounted beer, wine, and cocktails at the bar. The basement restaurant and bar, Sotto, also has a pizza menu and has live jazz Wednesday-Saturday.”
“Great for breakfast/brunch and kids. In Capitol Hill walkable neighborhood with abundant restaurants and shops. ”
“We love to go to Etto!. It cozy and intimate. The food is “home - madelicious” specially their carcofi alla romana-, at the artichoke’s season. Indeed one of our fav restaurants in town. ”
