The War Eagle Creek runs through Withrow Springs State Park and is a great "put-in" place for floating (tubing, kayaking, canoeing, etc.). It is typically floatable from March to mid-June depending on rainfall. It is also a great fishing location. A day of floating or fishing on these gentle waters is relaxation at its best. War Eagle Creek has been referred to as a “miniature version of the Buffalo National River” because of the surrounding scenic bluffs. One unusual aspect of the creek is that it flows north when other (area) creeks flow south. On War Eagle Creek, anglers fish for catfish, bream, perch and bass. Stream-running walleye are also found in the river. The park also features three hiking trails, tennis courts, baseball and softball fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, a pavilion, and gift shop. A unique flower, the rare Ozark trillium, grows in the park.

Withrow Springs offers hiking, swimming and a place to put in your kayak. The bluffs along the trails are a great place to watch the Bald Eagle at sunset. Stop by the visitors center for a trail map and talk with the park staff for skill level suggestions.
