This is the place is iconically Wisconsin. Fresh, local flavors and the best-fried cheese curds and dipping sauce! Their brandy Old Fashioned is top-notch too.
Excellent food right on the square. A great stop any day of the week. Especially on a Farmer Market Saturday.
You can't come to Wisconsin and not enjoy our signature drink, an Old Fashioned! We drink ours with brandy, and it's a perfect cocktail in hot or cold weather. The fare at this restaurant is great also.
“My favorite restaurant! The food is amazing and the view of the Capitol is even better through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows. They don't take reservations, but will call you when your table is ready so you can grab a drink at Lucille or Tipsy Cow while you wait.”
“The Memorial Union is a Madison icon. Sit out by the lake, have a drink, enjoy the views. The Union pulls people by the hundreds on a nice summer weekend. ”
“The Dane Co Farmers' Market is reported to be the largest producer-only farmers’ market in the country. All items are produced by the members behind the tables. No re-sale allowed! This means that when you visit the Dane County Farmers' Market, you can truly get to know the people who grow and raise your food. The Dane County Farmers’ Market on the Square is a Saturday and Wednesday tradition in Madison, Wisconsin. You’ll find the season’s best bounty of vegetables, flowers, meats, cheeses, and specialty products from approximately 275 vendors throughout the year. Over 150 members attend every Saturday. All of the items for sale are grown, raised, and produced in Wisconsin by the person behind the stand.”
“Coopers Tavern is not only amazing food (brunch and dinner) but fantastic views and one of the best beer lists in town. In the summer, they put out tables right on the Capitol Square.”
“There's also a Monroe St. Location. The food and service is typically good there. There's also a nook in the Capitol location that offers probably the best stellar night of any Madison restaurant or bar of the Capitol but you have to search to find it (hint its on the second floor). ”
