Ellē is an all-day café, bakery, and bar in the former Heller's Bakery, from Nick Pimentel (Bad Saint, Room 11) and Lizzy Evelyn (Paisley Fig). Food here means fresh-baked breads, pastries and a vegetable-heavy menu loaded with house-fermented ingredients. Popular place among locals for coffee and snacks. A Saturday morning farmers market is out front from 10am.
Very good for breakfast! They make this amazing London Fog Latte. They also have this smoked meat breakfast sandwich. A must try if you are in town and looking to try something new.
Contemporary American surprises, fermented and seared, and at times pleasingly straight forward. My top spot if you’re only here for a night, plus it’s yards away. Great coffee and snacks (the breakfast sandwich, goodness gracious) in the morning to boot.
Elle is a great coffee shop and bakery by day and a James Bear nominated restaurant by night. It is an amazing addition to the neighborhood!
“Good coffee shop and super close, just at the top of Irving Street and right on MT Pleasant.”
“Walk in. Sip a pisco at the bar and contemplate the paella, a bib gormand and winner. Bask in this, a rare and perfected Spanish/Basque restaurant in DC. ”
“Suns's cinema is presenting a wide array of movies and documentaries on an original atmosphere we like to spend time at the different Mount Pleasant’s hood.”
“One of the best Thai restaurants in the area. Nice decor and situated in a charming little street/neighborhood called Mt. Pleasant. Less than 15 minute walk or less than 10 minute drive. I love everything on their menu, especially the Penang Curry w/ Chicken. ”
