Beautiful beach in Mendocino where Big River meets the ocean. Kayaking, paddle boarding and surfing, as well as bird watching and walking or biking along the old logging road that parallels the river.

Dog and kid-friendly. The riverside is calm and smooth. Lots of seal and river otter sitings. Great for picnics. Walk over to the ocean side for some waves and driftwood collecting. Rent a kayak and travel upstream for a relaxing activity. Walkable access to town via steps. One of our favorite beaches!

This is a popular beach at the outlet of Big River, you can enjoy the river at one end of the beach and the ocean on the other.

This is a beautiful beach with lots of driftwood; the river and the hike-friendly Haul Road formed the heart of the lumber industry dating back to the 1850s.

Big River has everything! Great path to take a walk along the river that goes on for miles. Fun swimming, kayaking, fishing, paddle boarding on the river. Also a wonderful beach at the mouth of the river for swimming and surfing.
